Science week - Day 3

We have no pictures today as the class visited a different teacher today.  I asked the boys and girls what they had been doing...

Evan said "we had to see which board was the most slippery."

Riley said "My shoes kept slipping off the yellow board."

Mikey said "My shoes did backflips all they way down- it was slippy!"

Orlaith said "Rubber soled shoes worked best."

The children enjoyed their experiment today!

Class Topics

This term we have been very busy!  Here is a quick update on some of our topics we have covered so far!

Literacy:  Tricky Words, Blending, Vowel digraphs, Capital letters, Sentence work, Simple punctuation

I regularly check the children's blending ability, assess Tricky word recognition and dictate words for the children to write.  This helps to assess their understanding and if more support is required.

At the end of each maths unit, the children complete an assessment to check for understanding.

Science:  Forces- push/pull/twist, Eco Topic - water

Bears!

As part of our topic on Toys, the children brought in their own favourite bears to the class. We compared them with Mrs Moynihan's old bear.
(It's my Dad's - it's 63 years old!)
